The GitHub Copilot metrics integration only accepts a classic Personal Access Token with org/enterprise admin-level scopes. Fine-grained PATs and GitHub App auth are not supported, even though GitHub now allows GitHub Apps for Copilot data. Teams that can’t approve that credential model are blocked from running Copilot metrics in production. Supporting GitHub App authentication (with fine-grained PAT as a secondary option) removes that blocker.
